About Me:

I'm a designer, I'm an illustrator, and I'm one crazy kid.

I've been interested in art since I was a wee lass. I loved coloring books, drawing doodles, the works. So what did I want to be when I grew up?

A veterinarian.

That's right, I felt that my career path would lead me to watching over puppies and kitties. Whenever we had career fairs, I always thought that Graphic Design looked bland (and shame on those that brought their work in for making me think so! A black and white image of Einstein isn't interesting to little kids, sorry.) So I continued on my merry way through life, taking art classes because they were enjoyable. I'd never thought that there were other options for an art career, or that Graphic Design could actually be pretty neat.

That is, until I hit my senior year of high school.

By a stroke of luck, my school counselor transferred to a different school, and one of the others took over her student list. Lo and behold, this counselor brought up the option to take a career center course in creating a portfolio! So, knowing that art classes were fun, I figured I'd go ahead and take the course. Throughout the year, I learned the different areas that I could go into as I created pieces for my portfolio. At the end of the year, the teacher matted the pieces and sent them to the Columbus College of Art and Design so that we could have them judged for scholarships.

I managed to get the Trustee's Award scholarship, worth $40,000. So, I went to CCAD.

At CCAD I not only honed my skills, but learned time management, how to work more quickly, and most importantly, that I enjoy even more fields of art than I ever knew. I enjoyed illustration before entering, so of course, that was my major. However, I took as many Advertising and Graphic Design courses as I could. I gained a strong background in both fields, and worked hard enough to obtain a spot on the President's List all 4 years and graduated Magna cum Laude.

I don't expect I'll be dealing with dying puppies and kittens any time in the future. Certainly not by choice.
